Eastwood MP Lee Anderson is taking action to help residents who were affected by the flooding in the Lynncroft area last month.
Last month, homes, cars and driveways were damaged by floodwater following heavy rainfall in the area. Flood defences failed around 5am on Monday September 18th on land belonging to Avant Homes. Avant Homes were refused planning permission to build 104 homes at the former Lynncroft Primary School site off Garden Road, Eastwood. However, it is understood that despite no construction having been taken place, the groundworks had already been put in place. Thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused in the community. A number of cars and driveways have been damaged by the flooding, and many homes also have had water flood the ground floor.
Residents say that the site previously acted as a flood plain and Broxtowe Borough Council is currently investigating as to whether any blame can be established.
Eastwood MP Lee Anderson recently met with residents of Garden Road to see what can be done to help.
Lee Anderson said “Residents here are fed up with the flooding being caused by this housing development site and they want to see action.”
“I will fight their corner with Avant Homes and Broxtowe Council to ensure that these people get justice for the thousands of pounds worth of damaged that has been caused to their property.”
“I will be meeting with Avant Homes and Broxtowe Council shortly to establish what can be done. This is not good enough and residents must be listened to.”
